Jaundice and Phototherapy

What does my kids bilirubin count have to be for insurance to cover the cost of a bili-blanket rental?

    Please reference our Home Phototherapy for Neonatal Jaundice policy, available on our website, for information about the medical necessity of this treatment. You can access this policy by following the steps below.


    1. Go to bcidaho.com

    2. Select the HEALTH & WELLNESS dropdown menu

    3. Select Medical Policies

    4. Read the Use and Disclosure of Data section

    5. Scroll to bottom of page

    6. Select Continue

    7. Select Durable Medical Equipment

    8. Select 1.01.07 Home Phototherapy for Neonatal Jaundice

    9. View the information under the Policy header



    If your child has coverage through Blue Cross of Idaho, please review your policy benefits or contact our Customer Service Department at the number on the back of your Blue Cross of Idaho identification card, to verify if you need prior authorization for these services before you rent the durable medical equipment.
